Q: How do you activate the beeping sound that tells you to shift in a Subaru Impreza WRX STi?
When its activated, its beeps, but on STi’s, like mine, it doesnt beep, its silent, theres just a light that flashes and tells me to shift. Please Help, Thank You.

A: there are detailed instructions in your manual.

Q: Any Ideas on Increasing My WRX STi Horsepower?
Hey, I’m looking for some way to increase my 2010 Subaru WRX STi’s horsepower. Recently, I installed a AEM cold air intakes. What else i must add/change? Is there any good twin turbo kit for Impreza? How do i swap my ECU chip? Please suggest some brands and/or some way to increase its power!

A: Ok, you have a plethora of issues. First, slow down and learn to drive the car properly. That car isn’t slow by any stretch of the imagination, but you do have to know how to drive it to extract the maximum potential. Your cold air intake requires the computer be retuned for it, so you’re probably losing power right now with that intake installed without a reflash. Second, your impreza is a 4 cylinder. A twin turbo would be pointless because it would just take up more space, add more plumbing and more points of failure. And besides, they do just fine with 1 turbo. Also, your ECU doesn’t have a “chip” in it, it’s a flashable EEPROM. That means you plug in a tuner and adjust the parameters that way, not by plugging in a chip. Your best bet, once you learn to drive the car, is to go to fastwrx.com and look at their modification path suggestions. It really is the best way to go.

Q: Looking for good audio system for my Subar WRX STi?
Im looking for a good decent sound system for my Subaru WRX STi. Im planning on making some sort of casing in the trunk made out of fiber glass and Plexiglass to house the sound system.

I need:

- Head unit
- 2 amplifiers
- 2 12″ inch sub woofers or 2 15″ woofers if fit able in the trunk

My budget is $1000-$1400

A: my friend has a sti and if you plan on having high powered system, be aware that you will but a strain on the alternator and battery.
unless you want to get a better high amp alternator and a better battery.
to better help you. i would do a five channel amp.
ubid has a rockford fosgate, and yes fosgate is authorized to sell this amp on ubid and you receive a 2 year warranty on the amp.
this is the link.
http://www.ubid.com/Rockford_Fosgate_25_to_Life_POWER1000_1400W_RMS_5%2DCh_Amp_Ltd._Ed./a11074246-c1016-s7.html
you can run subwoofers, door speakers on this one unit. the power ratings are underestimated, all rockford products are, but this amp should be on the list of canidates. plus you only need the one amp for everything.
next head unit.

headunit would be this. with out a doubt , i have this and it cant be touched as far as features go, call them up and you will get a better price. yes they are a authorized dealer.

next ,

subwoofer,
the same car as you have
he has a alpine type x subwoofer. 10 inch in a sealed 0.85 box. i would do a 1.0 sealed box. but believe me, one sub is enough, reason being, you have a small car and the bass impact in more tremendous. i have sat in the car and the bass is seriously loud with one sub, so you might want to consider.
also if you decide on what size etc, if you port the box you gain 3db, so if you decide lets say to do a 10in sub in a ported box, you will get very loud.
http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLSR104DVC
these about you only need a sealed box. very underrated sub.
great build, and is a perfect match for that amplifier.
also a 3 year warranty on the sub with the receipt.
these pic do no justice. in person this thing is a monster.
plus it is a great space saver.
email me at r130j@yahoo.com. i can help you with a decision.

Q: how much does a 1992 Impreza WRX STI cost in Canada ?
i have been thinking of buying a 1992 Impreza WRX STI i want to know how much it costs in Canada before i look for one.

A: Since it was never sold in Canada, you will have to import one…that will probably cost as much or more than a new one. The WRX was first sold in North America starting with the 2002 model.

Q: Information on a 2002 wrx sti good buy?
I am looking a buying a 2002 wrx sti and was wondering if and owners can give me a review of the car. This car has 80,000 miles on it but is in excellent condition. Would it be wise for me to buy it it needs to last about 4 years I drive about 20,000 miles a year. Thank you for your answers.
sorry actually it is just a wrx not wrx sti

A: It the price is right, go for it. Most Subarus go 200,000+ miles. There’s a reason you don’t see many of them used, the owners love them.

Q: Is a subaru impreza wrx or wrx sti faster?
I have heard that the wrx is faster with aftermarket mods because the sti you cant do anything to it but just wondering you could put after market mods on a sti to make it faster and which one would be faster with after market parts plz answer in depth as much as possible

A: Aftermarket mods to a WRX only gets it to the level of an STI.

An STI is highly tuned from the factory, but that doesn’t mean you can’t push it further, it just means that the next steps are more expensive.

Let’s put it this way.

Say there’s ten levels of performance. Each one costs more than the last.

The WRX is at stage 2.

STi is at stage 5.

The STI won’t benefit from things like an intake, exhaust, etc, because that was all done on stage 1-4. Now, you need to invest bigger money, to get bigger gains.

The WRX will benefit, but as soon as it gets to Stage 5, same thing. It costs more money again.

The STI is ultimately the better vehicle to start with; because you’d have to invest that much more just to get the WRX up to it’s level. And then an STI with any kinds of mods at all, will still destroy it.

What you end up with, is people complaining that they can’t mod the STI. They can. They just don’t want to spend the money to do so.

Somehow, to them, it makes more sense to spend $2000 on intake, exhaust, etc, which barely helps the car at all, than to buy a $2000 turbo, which would significantly help the car.

It’s still $2000 though.

Pretty stupid, no? Happens all the time, though.

Q: I would like to know what will be the effects of replacing the stock Subaru Impreza WRX STi headers by HKS?
What are the gains in terms of power by replacing the stock STi headers with HKS unequal length headers? Do i get more of the rumble with HKS headers? I’ve been told the exhaust gases have a more free flow with HKS, is that true?

A: you would def notice a difference in sound.

not so much power without a proper tune.

Q: What car is similar to the Wrx Sti and Evo but automatic?
I drive manual transmission but for new york, its not good with all the traffic around here. I like these two cars and wish to find something similar to them.

A: Do you wont to go with me because you is cute

Q: What is the difference between a subaru impreza turbo base model, wrx, and wrx sti?
Thinking of buying an impreza turbo. Would like to know what the difference is between the three main models.
I’m talking about the original shape up to about the year 2000. Is there power differences mainly?
I,m pretty sure all models of this age are 2.0 litres.

A: get your hands on a P1 and then you will see the difference ;) .. But i would prefer the evo to be honest far more reliable ;)

Q: Can I upgrade a stock ‘06 impreza to a WRX or STi equivilant?
I was wondering if there was any way to take my stock ‘06 subaru impreza and get it to be like a WRX model or an STi model, without just completely switching out the engine and gauges and all the stuff?

A: Put simply, no. The things that set imprezas, wrx’s and STI’s apart are its engine/suspension components (as well as a few aesthetics). Best thing to do if u want wrx or STI performance is to just straight up purchase one.

Oh and, it IS more costly to convert a WRX into an STI. Buying the Transmission, suspension, interior, and engine components of the STI already surpasses the price of just initially buying the STI.

Q: How much would a 2006 Subaru impreza wrx sti cost?
How much would it cost if it was new and or used. After taxes and how much monthly. As an Ontario resident.

A: suggested retail value for a wrx sti is – $27,160
private party sale- $25,240 excellent – $23,795 good- $21,745 fair (condition)

all are for a base model with 30,000 miles on it which is the avg. for a car according to AAA 15,000 mile a year

the 08’s are not that nice and they are only making 800 of them, i think the 06′ is the nicest looking wrk sti they made

Q: 2004 WRX STI insurance for a 16 year old in arizona?
16 year old, arizona, good grades, took the safety class and driving school thing, how much you think insurance would be for an sti?

A: Well at the age of 16, it’s more likely that you’d be on your parents insurance. It’s going to be expensive, because insurance companies know what an STi is. Most WRX drivers have high insurance rates because so many of them are crashed…and the STi is even worse.

If you want a safe, quick, sporty vehicle…start out with something a little cheaper, that has a little less horsepower. Just get a used 02-04 WRX instead. You can also buy a used 2.5RS. No, it wouldn’t have a turbo, but at 16…you don’t need one.

Q: What aftermarket exhaust and muffler is best for an 04 wrx sti?
What sounds the best… GReddy? Flowmaster? Magnaflow? I don’t want dual catbacks I want one solid pipe, I’m looking for that LOUD gurgly engine moan. Please help!!!

A: The loudest are either the Blitz Nur-Spec R or the Turbo XS RFL. But beware they are really loud. I had the Blitz years ago and when I pulled into the garage, things in the kitchen cabinet would rattle. It’s not just the sound but really bassy. Look up STI exhaust on Youtube and you can get some idea of the different sounds.

Q: I own a 98 model wrx sti. What parts and how much will cost me to make it run 11second 1/4mile?
i would like to know if it is possible to do this with parts that will bolt straight onto my stock motor?
I am soon going to purchase a new turbo because my stock is on its way out, so what is the best recomended? what will i need to purchase to run this turbo?
What parts and how much will cost me to make it run 11second 1/4mile?

thank you.

A: There are really a lot of factors to consider here so It’s hard to say what single set up will guaranty you breaking into the 11’s. With a 5 speed and a pretty light car, I’m going to guess you need somewhere around 350 to 370 wheel horse power at the very least to make it. On a 2 liter, a turbo big enough to get you in the 11’s will be pretty laggy for regular driving but a well set up 20G or the new Blouch Dominator 2.5 will probably get you there. Since you will have to have some tuning done with a new turbo, find the tuner you will be using and have a chat with him.

Q: What car will win on a 1 mile drag strip between the Lotus ExigeS240 and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi?
What will win between these two cars on a full mile drag strip? This is going to be interesting to see everyone’s opinion on this! LOL Who do you think wins, and of this race will it be a close race? Yes or no.

A: The STI will probably still win. The Lotus has such close gearing to make it accelerate good with the power it’s got. It’ll do wonders on a tight track but in a straight line race, I think an STI will take it.
