Q: How much would it cost to get a belt fixed inside a transmission of a Toyota Camry?
The car in question is a 1992 Toyota Camry

A: I myself have never heard of a belt in a trans. Now a band maybe, it’s time for a rebuild.

Q: Does a Toyota Camry front bumper fit on a Toyota Avalon?
I have a 1996 Toyota Avalon and thinking of putting on a custom front bumper. Since custom Avalon bumpers don’t exist I wanted to buy a custom Camry bumper. Would that work?

A: Sorry but no.

Q: Why did my 1997 Toyota Camry throw a rod?
i had a 1997 Toyota camry with 220,000 miles on it, it was running great, and well maintained,

one day i went and did an oil change, the next day it threw a rod? any ideas?

A: The most common reason is when the engine is loaded with sludge, which is the result of poor maintenance habits, the plugged oil passages don’t allow the engine to get lubrication where it counts.

My guess is that when you changed oil, the detergents in the oil loosened up enough sludge to COMPLETELY block the oil passages.

P.S. my daughter always claimed HER car was “well maintained” too, but she managed to ruin TWO engines with sludge.

Q: Can a Toyota Camry last you 10 to 20 years?
if you take care of it, can it last you 10 to 20 years? my goal is to buy a Toyota Camry model, take care of it and make it last until it drops dead. I want to get a good car that will last me for a very long time.

A: Most newer cars can probably get to 200,000 miles if they’re well maintained, and driven responsibly. But expect to do some repairs as the car gets older (or decide that some things might not be worth fixing).

Whether that means your car will last 10 or 20 years depends on how much driving you do – and it also depends on what kind of climate you live in; if you drive where they put salt on the roads in the winter, your car’s life will probably be shortened somewhat by the risk of corrosion (rust).

Whether or not you think your car really will last that long, it makes sense to buy a used on rather than new, just as a way to save more money (anyway, if you’re going to have your car for 10+ years, even if was new, it would only be new for a very small part of that time, so why bother getting it new at all?)

Q: How is the 2010 Toyota Camry LE trim’s Horsepower?
Planning to buy a Toyota CmLE trim. Heard the horsepower is only 169, is this horsepower good enough for a mid-size sedan like Camry. What is it going to feel like when I drive it. The SE is my second option which is only 10 more horsepower than LE. Please Advice.

Thanks in advance.

A: Horsepower and Camry do not go together. a 10 horsepower difference between models is not anything you would really notice. The Camry is not built for performance. It is built to be a reliable, comfortable and relatively affordable family car. Speed and performance is the least of Toyota’s concerns on that car.

The power is fine just to go from point a to point b. It will do just fine on the highway, but you are not going to win any races. The 179 horsepower SE version does 0-60mph in 8.3 seconds. To compare, a 2010 Toyota Sienna Minivan will do 0-60mph in 7 seconds.

What size speakers does an 89′ toyota camry have?

A: small ones

Q: How to increase horsepower in my 1990 Toyota Camry 4 Cylinder?
How can I increase the horsepower and speed of my 1990 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder. I know it only has 120 or so horsepower and stuff, but isn’t there any easy way to make it faster and stronger without messing it up??? Any help is appreciated.
It’s an automatic…and I just bought it to get to work and school… but it would be nice to rev it up a lil. I don’t wanna spend money on it. I just thought something easy can be done to rev the hp up.

A: are you serious…don’t waste any money on it.

Q: Up to what mileage will a 1994 toyota camry last?
I currently have a ‘94 toyota camry with roughly 170k miles on it. It runs exceptionally well. How much longer will it last? Up to 180k, 190k, even 200k? I have regular maintanence done, and I drive conservatively.

A: If you treat it right, which it sounds like you do, it should be good for 250K+ easy.

Q: Where could I find a Toyota camry engine?
I have got 1996 Toyota Camry 2.2.

Thanks

A: www.car-parts.com

www.ebay.com

A used 2.2 with average miles should cost about $500.

Q: Can you give me step by step direction to change VSV on toyota camry 1998 2.2L V4?
Can anyone give me step by step directions on how to change the VSV (vacuum switching valve) on a 1998 toyota camry 2.2L V4. Thanks. Step by step with pictures will be preferable. Thanks guys.

A: The VSV for egr is on the bottom rt of the intake manifold. You may be able to see it thru the strg rack hole from behind the rt front wheel and access with a super long extension and a 12mm universal socket. It will be tough without a hoist. You can relocate the new one in an easier spot, but the electrical connector and vacuum lines must reach it. Good Luck. T&T

Q: What is causing this strange noise in my 1991 Toyota Camry DX?
I have a 1991 Toyota Camry DX and about a month ago, I noticed that every once in a while when I try and start the car, there was a “whining” noise from the engine compartment and wouldn’t start. I had to turn the key sometimes several times before it started. I was told there was a bad spot in the starter. So I replaced the starter and everything was fine for maybe a week…now it’s making the same noise again. And it’s becoming more frequent as time goes on. What’s causing this?

A: it could be the flywheel teeth

Q: What can i do to upgrade my ‘03 toyota camry?
I am looking to add a sound system for around $500. The current deck i have in there is a Pyle PLDNTC7 Direct Factory Replacement for Toyota Camry Touch Screen. What amp should i get? And what speaker and how many watt, etc. Thanks!

A: your question is to broad
are you looking to add new inside speakers or are you looking to put something in the trunk and if you are looking for subs what size do you want, how many and are you into name brands (you get what you pay for) or the cheap stuff

Q: Where can I find Bank 1 Sensor 1 for toyota camry 1998 V4? I got to change the sensor as my engine light is on?
My engine light is one for my Toyota Camry 1998 V4. It came as P1130, P1133, P1135 all pointing to fault in Bank 1 Sensor 1. Where can I find it?

A: Bank 1 is the first O2 sensor on your exhaust manifold, closest to the front of your car; thats the culprit.

Q: Will motor from a toyota avalon fit a 1994 toyota camry?
Can a motor from a toyota avalon fit a 1994 toyota camry?
I found a 1995 avalon motor that is the same motor as the 1994 camry and was manufactured in the same plant. Toyota says they will work.

A: Nope

Q: 1998 toyota camry – is 98 octance fuel bad or good?
I was told that 98 octane unleaded fuel is good for the car. Is that true even for an older car like mine (1998 model Toyota Camry)? I’ve been using 91 octane fuel and would like to try higher octane, what should I do?

A: Very little is going to happen to your engine.

if you want you can do this test.
1. use 87 octane gas and record the milage you get.
2. use 91 and then 98.

you will see slightly better mpg with 91, but not more than 5% you will see no better with 98.

the benefit of higher octanes is that they do not self ignite at higer pressures and temperatures. They burn just as fast, once ignited and have approximately the same number of BTUs/lb mabe a little higher depending on the quality of provider.

There used to be a supplier (Sunoco sun oil company) that let you mix your own at the pump…….I used to use 120 in my motorcycle….it was pretty hot, but in reality didnt need it.

If you ever plan to race or haul heavy equipment on a short term basis, go with a higher grade. Its cheap insurance against knocking.

good luck
